چکیده

The definition of fictitious play may depend on first move rules, initial beliefs, weights assigned to initial beliefs, and tie-breaking rules determining the particular best replies chosen at each stage. Using the original definition of Brown (1951) in which the first moves are chosen arbitrarily and no tie-breaking rules are assumed, we give an example of a fictitious play process in a 2 × 2 game that does not converge to equilibrium. Generalised weakened fictitious play

A general class of adaptive process in games is developed, which significantly generalises weakened fictitious play (Van der Genugten, 2000) and includes several interesting fictitious-play-like processes as special cases. The general model is rigorously analysed using the best response differential inclusion, and shown to converge in games with the fictitious play property. Furthermore, a new ...

A new interpretation of the Nash bargaining solution : fictitious play ∗

We provide a new interpretation of the Nash bargaining solution, using fictitious play. Based on the finding that the Nash demand game has the fictitious play property and that almost every fictitious play process and its associated belief path converge to a pure-strategy Nash equilibrium in the Nash demand game (In, 2014), we present two initial demand games which exactly and approximately imp...

Fictitious Play and No-Cycling Conditions

We investigate the paths of pure strategy profiles induced by the fictitious play process. We present rules that such paths must follow. Using these rules we prove that every non-degenerate 1 2x3 game has the continuous fictitious play property, that is, every continuous fictitious play process, independent of initial actions and beliefs, approaches equilibrium in such games.

Fictitious play in 2×n games

It is known that every continuous time fictitious play process approaches equilibrium in every nondegenerate 2×2 and 2×3 game, and it has been conjectured that convergence to equilibrium holds generally for 2×n games. We give a simple geometric proof of this. As a corollary, we obtain the same result for the discrete fictitious play process. Journal of Economic Literature classification numbers...

Multi-agent learning using Fictitious Play and Extended Kalman Filter

Decentralised optimisation tasks are important components of multiagent systems. These tasks can be interpreted as n-player potential games: therefore game-theoretic learning algorithms can be used to solve decentralised optimisation tasks. Fictitious play is the canonical example of these algorithms. Nevertheless fictitious play implicitly assumes that players have stationary strategies. We pr...
